Best Construction Companies in the Dominican Republic, the East, Punta Cana and Punta Cana Village (2026): Editorial Ranking

Transparency: this ranking is published by Netix, a real estate marketing and sales agency; Netix is not a contractor and does not appear on the list. Companies are ordered by the criteria described below using data from the public sources linked.

Short answer: on the criteria and sources used here, Constructora AE (11 of 12 points) and Codelpa (10 of 12) lead this editorial ranking of 10 contractors operating in the Dominican Republic. Arena Gorda, GRADE Constructora, RDLS Developers Group and Therrestra follow with 9 points each. The order reflects what each firm declares and what can be verified publicly. It is not a judgment of build quality.

How to read this ranking

If you are a developer, fund or foreign investor looking for a builder in the Dominican Republic, the first task is to separate what a company shows from what it merely says. This ranking sticks to the first: facts we could open on each firm’s official site or in Dominican press, with a link to the source.

Four points up front:

  • We include only contractors with a head office or main office in the Dominican Republic according to their site or the linked source. Where the head office could not be verified, we say so.
  • An empty circle (○) means not verified in open sources. It does not mean the company lacks that attribute.
  • The order does not measure workmanship, schedule performance or financial strength. Those are only tested through references, site visits and contract review.
  • Figures in each profile (years, projects, rooms) are self-reported by the company or the cited outlet. We did not audit them.

The six criteria and the scoring scale

Each company scores 0 to 2 points per criterion (maximum 12): ● = 2 (clearly verified), ◐ = 1 (partly verified), ○ = 0 (not verified).

  1. A. Residential/tourism specialization: the site or source describes housing, hotel or tourism work.
  2. B. Presence in the East or Punta Cana: head office or named projects in La Altagracia, La Romana or the eastern region.
  3. C. Verifiable portfolio: named projects on the official site or in the press.
  4. D. Integrated services: design-build, project management or supervision, pre-construction.
  5. E. Experience with developers and investors: declared relationships, clients or investor-facing services.
  6. F. Visible method or credentials: published certification, methodology or memberships.

Ties are broken alphabetically.

That is a 2016 source; confirm the current portfolio with the company.
  • Best for: large-scale hotels and residential developments where a documented method and quality certification matter.

3. Arena Gorda (9 points)

  • Base: Edificio Pablo, Suite 5B, Av. Santa Rosa corner La Romana, La Romana, per its official site.
  • Focus: residential and tourism construction, project direction and supervision, development with architectural and structural work, budget optimization, remodeling and maintenance. It states operations since 1995 and more than 250 completed projects.

Green Valley, Excellence Finest, Ocean Eden Bay, Costa Uvero Apartments and Bahia Principe El Portillo, among others, without locations. Its Excellence Punta Cana page describes the 2017 renovation of 468 rooms in Bávaro.
  • Best for: large hotels and hotel renovations, with in-house design and supervision.

7. Grupo Dupla (8 points)

  • Base: Edificio GAL, fourth floor, Puntacana Village, per its official site.
  • Focus: an engineering and construction group founded in 2001 (self-reported), with subsidiaries Constructora Dupla (residential villas) and Constructora Porto Valencia (hotel, tourism, residential and commercial). Services: space modernization, technical coordination, permit and documentation management, and supervision.

  • Best for: villas and hospitality projects inside or near the Punta Cana Village community.

8. Constructora Bisonó (6 points)

  • Base: could not be verified; constructorabisono.com shows a domain-for-sale page, so this profile relies on press. That limits scoring, not the company’s activity.

  • Best for: residential developments in northern Santo Domingo. We found no named projects in the East.

10. Constructora Rizek (1 point)

  • Base: not published on its official site, which lists only a phone number and email; the company states it operates in the country.
  • Focus: civil works, earthmoving, paving, concrete and equipment rental; roads, highways, aqueducts, bridges and buildings. It states more than 40 years of service.
  • Best for: earthworks, roads and site infrastructure for horizontal developments rather than tourism buildings.

Who stands out by area

1. Dominican Republic overall (Santo Domingo, Santiago). Constructora AE, Codelpa and Therrestra combine a Santo Domingo base, named portfolios and integrated services. For volume housing, see Bisonó and Moreno Santos; for civil works, Rizek. We found no contractor with a verifiable Santiago head office that met this article’s data standard; if you know one, write to us.

2. The East. Arena Gorda (La Romana) is the only firm with a verified East-region head office outside Punta Cana, with work in Juan Dolio, Casa de Campo and Bávaro. Grupo Dupla adds Miches (Playa Esmeralda), and Constructora AE’s news page describes the 2019 Club Med Miches build alongside Constructora Aybar.

3. Punta Cana, Bávaro and Cap Cana. Constructora AE (Majestic, Punta Blanca, W Punta Cana), Codelpa (Cap Cana and Punta Cana hotels per 2016 press), GRADE (Bávaro head office), Therrestra (Excellence Punta Cana) and RDLS (Palm Beach Residences, Cap Cana).

4. Punta Cana Village. Grupo Dupla has its office in Puntacana Village and projects at Puntacana Resort. GRADE lists a two-level home in Punta Cana Village, and Arena Gorda lists villas at Punta Cana Resort & Club. Constructora AE took part in the W Punta Cana launch with Grupo Puntacana. For homes inside the community, always request a list of completed work there.

How to choose a contractor for a project in the Dominican Republic

1. Build permitting into the schedule

According to El Día (July 29, 2026), obtaining a construction license can take close to a year. Revista Mercado reports a reform aiming for 60-day responses on non-complex projects and 120 days on complex ones; confirm its status with the authority before planning around it. Ask whether the contractor manages permits (Constructora AE and Grupo Dupla list this among their services) or whether your team must.

2. Check zoning for the specific area

Per inmobiliario.do, the Bávaro tourist zone allows 4 levels plus a rooftop (17 m) and 50% occupancy. In Uvero Alto–Macao, the 60–120 m strip from the high-tide line allows 10% occupancy and 2 levels, and the 22-level allowance applies only to the deepest 5% of the lot. Each lot has its own conditions; confirm current rules with the municipality before commissioning a design.

3. Understand how costs move

With the peso stronger in 2026, sources point to a two-sided effect. Revista Mercado (August 2026) notes that a cheaper dollar lowers the cost of imported inputs, while local labor, services and transport are still paid in pesos. inmobiliario.do (July 2026) adds that local labor and domestic materials become relatively more expensive in dollar terms. We could not confirm the exact appreciation figure cited elsewhere, so we do not use it. Ask for bids that break out labor, imported materials and local materials, with clear adjustment clauses.

4. Ask for evidence, not just numbers

  • A list of completed projects of the same type and scale as yours, and in the same area.
  • Two or three client references and a visit to a project under construction.
  • Supervision structure, method (BIM, Lean or other) and current certifications.
  • Who designs, who supervises and who answers for quality after handover.
  • Contract model (fixed price, cost-plus, turnkey) and warranties.
  • For foreign investors: confirm how payments, local taxes and the corporate structure will be handled, with local legal and tax advisers.

Methodology and updates

  • Cut-off date: 2026-10-13.
  • Sources: each company’s official site and the Dominican press linked in each profile. Older or sponsored press is flagged as such.
  • Exclusions: we left out firms whose sites did not load or lacked enough data to score, and firms that are not contractors (developers and brokers).
  • Corrections: if you represent one of these companies, or know one that belongs here, write to info@netixrd.com with a link to the source and we will update the profile.
